We all know that regular visits to the dentist
are important, both for our oral health and our
general medical health. Our dentists in Burbank, CA and The American Dental
Association recommend having checkups and routine
cleanings every 6 months. If it has been longer than
6 months since your last visit, give us a call and
we will be happy to help you schedule a recall exam. |

Our dentists in Burbank Adj. utilize a digital x-ray system similar in many
ways to the modern digital cameras that we've become
familiar with. The advantages of this cutting-edge
technology is that much less radiation is required
and it offers instant access by any dentist in our
Burbank Adj. dental office. (This system is also kinder to our
environment since it eliminates chemical and non
biodegradable packaging waste.)
Each dental operatory is equipped with flat
screen monitors which enable us to easily and
effectively explain our findings and treatment
options. When coupled with intraoral and extraoral
cameras this system serves as a wonderful teaching
aid and record keeping resource. |

Dental sealants are a bonded composite coating
that is usually applied to the chewing surfaces of
the back teeth (premolars and molars), where decay
most often occurs. They serve as a barrier,
protecting teeth against decay-causing bacteria, and
are frequently recommended for children's teeth. |

Gum Disease Prevention
- Back to List
The deterioration of gum tissue and supporting
bone is properly called periodontal disease. In
other words it's a process affecting the tissues
surrounding the teeth.
In it's early stages, periodontal disease is
generally symptomless. In the later stages, this
process can result in loose teeth ultimately leading
to tooth loss.
Early diagnosis and treatment of periodontal
disease can substantially slow the progression of
this condition.
At Studio City Dental Group we offer a full range
of services to treat periodontal disease, including
specialty care by Dr. Leonard Schusterman and a
staff of expertly qualified dental hygienists. |

Modern computer aided design and fabrication
techniques combined with customized artistic methods

If you want a smile that is attractive and
reflects good health, you may need a crown to cover
a tooth and restore it to its normal shape and size.
A crown strengthens your tooth as well as improves
its appearance.
Crowns are often needed to support a tooth with a
large filling when the remaining tooth structure is
no longer strong enough. They can be used to attach
a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking,
restore one that's already broken, to cover
a dental implant. In addition to necessary
restoration, a crown is also a good way to cover
teeth that are discolored or badly shaped, improving
the overall cosmetics of your smile.
If we recommend a crown, it's probably to correct
one of these conditions. Our primary concern, like
yours, is helping you keep your teeth healthy and
your smile bright -- literally, your crowning glory. |

If you're missing one or more teeth, you may
notice a difference in chewing and speaking ability.
There are options to help restore your smile.
Bridges help maintain the shape of your face, as
well as alleviate the stress in your bite by
replacing missing teeth.
Sometimes called a fixed partial denture, a
bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth.
It looks great, and literally bridges the gap where
one or more teeth may have been. The restoration can
be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a
combination of these materials and is bonded onto
surrounding teeth for support.
Unlike a removable bridge, which you can take out
and clean, a fixed bridge can only be removed by a
dentist. An implant bridge attaches artificial teeth
directly to the jaw or under the gum tissue.
Depending on which type of bridge your dentist
recommends, its success depends on its foundation.
So, it's very important to keep your remaining teeth
and supporting bone healthy and strong. |

Historically, if you had a tooth with a diseased
nerve, you'd probably lose that tooth. Today, with a
special dental procedure called root canal therapy,
you may save that tooth. Inside each tooth is the
pulp (commonly referred to as the ‘nerve'), which
provides nutrients to the tooth, it runs like a
thread down through the root. When the pulp is
diseased or injured, the pulp tissue deteriorates.
If you don't remove the compromised tissue, the
tooth may become infected and you could lose it.
After the dentist carefully removes the pulp, the
root canal is cleaned and sealed off to protect it.
Most of the time, a root canal is a relatively
simple procedure, with little or no discomfort,
involving one or more visits. Best of all, it can
save your tooth and your smile! |

IIn some instances, a tooth may need to be
extracted. In these instances, our top priority is
your comfort and well-being. We take the utmost care
and use the latest techniques and instruments to
make the entire process as comfortable as possible.
Often, seeing your Studio City dentist regularly for cleanings
and checkups, as well as brushing & flossing your
teeth each day can prevent the loss of a tooth. |

Micro-dentistry is a new way to treat tooth decay. It is a conservative
way to remove all of the decay while preserving as much tooth material as possible.
To minimize the loss of natural tooth structure, our exceptional dentists near Burbank
at Studio City Dental Group accurately and selectively remove decay using a gentle
stream of air and powder. This technique is known as Air-abrasion and it replaces the use of
traditional dental drills.
